LucidSource has full support for Missouri Packaging Approval Numbers (PANs), including bulk uploading of PANs, bulk association of multiple PANs and Manufacturing License Numbers with Products, and support for dynamically adding PANs and Manufacturing License Numbers to LucidID labels when generating them.
Lucid Green can help you prepare all samples, and will work in parallel with the DHSS compliance process to speed your Brand's path through the approval process.
To ensure timely approval and availability of PANs by the Missouri DHSS, Lucid Green recommends starting the conversation with your DHSS compliance agent as early as possible. When speaking with your DHSS compliance agent, you should be sure to ask and get answers to the following questions:
- Is your brand able to submit approval samples for product lines, or do you need to submit samples for each individual product in your catalog?
- Since LucidSource generates compliance labels using templates, getting approval for a full product line (ex. all Vape cartridges if they share a single label design) at once by submitting a single sample label for all products in that product line can dramatically reduce the amount of work and time required to gain approval for multiple products. Remind your compliance agent that since there is a significant approval backlog (as of Fall 2024, approval time is 2-3 months per label), receiving approval for an entire product line also significantly reduces workload for DHSS agents handling label approval.
- Remember that each product in your catalog will require product specific information on each template submission for approval. This is typically the product name and weight information, and can be submitted for approval along with the single sample label template.
- Does the QR (LucidID) need to scan to sample product specific information or can it be a placeholder QR code?
- If the QR code needs to scan to sample product information, we can provide a sample LucidID QR code that can be used for submission.
- If the QR code has to match the individual product information when submitting, the sample templates will need to be generated from our system after your product catalog is uploaded. Note: If you are able to submit a single label template for an entire product line, you may be able to add a single Product into LucidSource quickly and generate sample labels for submission prior to uploading your product entire catalog.
- If placeholder QR codes can be used, we can provide a sample LucidID for inclusion on your submitted label.
- Be sure every label you submit contains a LucidID. Inclusion of a QR code on a submitted sample label is a requirement of DHSS rules, and if your approved labels (and received PAN) do NOT have a QR code in the same place as the LucidID, you will need to re-submit that label sample for approval (including the LucidID in the correct location and with the correct size).
After you have determined the answers to the above questions, we recommend starting the process outlined below as early as possible due to the significant lead time for DHSS to approve and provide PANs (as of Fall 2024, approval time is 2-3 months per label):
- Update your label templates to include a 0.5 inch x 0.5 inch or larger QR code (we can provide sample LucidIDs to use for placement and sizing on your labels). Note that this is the minimum size for LucidIDs printed at 300dpi to ensure scanability.
- If you are able to submit a single sample label for an entire product line, please contact Lucid Green to receive a sample LucidID for placement on your labels. Submit your sample label as early as possible.
- If you must submit sample labels for each product in your catalog, reach out to Lucid Green as early as possible in the onboarding process. We will work with you to upload an initial product catalog with minimal information (including names, weights, other unique fields that are different per product), and using your provided sample labels (with design layout) our team can assist with the bulk generation of product label samples for submission.
