Testing Your QR Code Scanner
First, determine if your scanner is operating correctly. These instructions assume you are using a recent Windows PC or Windows Tablet.
- Make sure your scanner is properly connected (via USB cable) to your computer.
- Open Notepad on Windows by clicking or tapping on the Start menu and typing
notepad
into the search box. - Click or tap into the open text window to ensure all input is going to the text window.
- Using your connected scanner, scan the following LucidID into the text window.
- Confirm that the text in the in the window matches EXACTLY. There shouldn’t be any extra lines or spaces around the LucidID URL, the first part of the URL (the domain name) should be in all lower case, and the ID at the end should have a mixture of lower and upper case characters and numbers. Once the scan is complete, the cursor (the vertical blinking line) should appear on the line BELOW the url.

Some examples of scanning errors that require a scanner reset:
If the result of the scan DOES NOT MATCH THE ABOVE DISPLAY EXACTLY, you will need to reset your scanner. Follow the instructions below.
If, after testing your scanner, you are unsure if it is configured properly, please contact LucidRetail support and include a screenshot or picture of what appears in Notepad.
Resetting a POSX EVO Omni 2D Presentation Scanner
To reset your scanner:
- Make sure your scanner is properly connected (via USB cable) to your computer.
- Scan the following reset QR code:
- You should hear 2 double beeps from your scanner, then it should reboot and beep its startup tones.
- Scan the following QR code to reset Caps Lock override:
- You should hear 2 double beeps from your scanner.
- If you don’t hear beeps, or are unsure if you scanned correct, you can scan the QR code above again.
- Test to make sure your scanner is working properly by following the instructions above under Testing Your Scanner
Troubleshooting
- After resetting the scanner, if it opens different windows when scanning a QR code or tabs to different fields, you may need to uninstall and re-install Google Chrome.
- If you find that scanning a QR code or LucidID is not recognized by the POS system, you may need to unplug and re-plug in the USB scanner.
