The following instructions will properly configure ScanAvenger SA8900 Series Barcode scanners.
Please ensure you follow all instructions below in order. Restart at the beginning to reset the scanner.
Important: Test the scanner at the end using the final step of the instructions to ensure your scanner is configured correctly.

2.4G Mode - Laptop/Computer

Power the scanner by pressing the button

Insert the USB dongle into a USB port of your device

Wait 30 seconds for devices to pair automatically.
For any issues connecting the scanner to the Wireless USB Dongle please follow the below troubleshooting steps:
- Unplug USB Dongle
- Scan the below barcode:
- Scan below barcode:
- Plug the USB Dongle back into the computer and test again. A blue light on the scanner should turn on, indicating that your scanner is connected to the dongle.
- Test to make sure your scanner is working properly by following the instructions in Testing Your USB or Bluetooth Connected Barcode/QR Code Scanner for Proper Configuration
- Additionally, you can open the LucidSource or LucidRetail app on your device and use the articles in the next section to test that the scanner has been paired and configured properly using the Quick Scan feature.
Note: If the scanner is in Bluetooth Mode and you want to revert back to the previously connected dongle, all you need to do is scan the 2.4G Mode barcode above.
Bluetooth Connection
- Scan the following two barcodes in order:
- Scanner light will be flashing blue. This means you can Connect it to your mobile device. On your mobile/tablet go to Bluetooth devices, search for “ScanAvenger HID” and click PAIR.
- Scanner light will turn solid blue indicating the scanner is connected to your device. Remember you can turn ON/ OFF your mobile phone/tablet keyboard by double tapping the scanner button.
- Test to make sure your scanner is working properly by following the instructions in Testing Your USB or Bluetooth Connected Barcode/QR Code Scanner for Proper Configuration
- Additionally, you can open the LucidSource or LucidRetail app on your device and use the articles in the next section to test that the scanner has been paired and configured properly using the Quick Scan feature.
Note: If the scanner is in Dongle Mode, and you want to revert back to the previously connected Bluetooth device, all you need to do is scan the Bluetooth Mode barcode above. If for whatever reason you are having Bluetooth connectivity issues, we recommend you remove the scanner from your Bluetooth devices on your mobile and go through the above steps again.
Carriage Return Configuration
This setting is on by default, but if your computer is not progressing after scanning then scan this barcode to enable this:

Troubleshooting
- After resetting the scanner, if it opens different windows when scanning a QR code or tabs to different fields, you may need to uninstall and re-install Google Chrome.
- If you find that scanning a QR code or LucidID is not recognized by the POS system, you may need to unplug and re-plug in the USB scanner.
